Abdullah Abbasi Clinches the First Title of Causeway Scrabble Challenge by Winning Youth Event

img-20161129-wa0034Johor Bahru(Cliff News) Abdullah Abbasi of Pakistan clinches the first title of the Causeway Scrabble Challenge by winning the youth event at Johor Bahru, Malaysia today.The 16 year old was in great form throughout the tournament and remained No. 1 or 2 all the way. After ending the day one on top Abdullah started the second day by winning his first three matches to take a healthy lead but defeats against Leon Tan Zheng and Tim Mason made it very tight making the last match a must-win situation for AbdullahThe young boy kept his nerves and played a masterly game against Tim Mason and won 490-437 to clinch the title. He finished with a 13-3 win record and a spread of 1079.Leon Tan Zheng of Singapore was the runner-up with 12 wins and a spread of 1103 while Poh Ying Ming of Singapore finished 3rd with 11 wins and a spread of 695.Abdullah will now participate in the adults tournament starting from 30th November along with compatriots Waseem Khatri, M. Inayatullah and Maria Soares who arrived in Malaysia just in time to see Abdullah lift the trophy
