Karachi(Cliff News)Quetta Gladiators  signed Pakistan’s star all-rounder Abdul Razzaq as the assistant/bowling coach for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2nd edition to be played in UAE in February next year.Razzaq will replace Ian Pont, who was the assistant coach in first edition as Gladiators played the final against Islamabad United, to further beef up the management which already has likes of 1992 World Cup winner Moin Khan as Head Coach and West Indian great Sir Vivian Richards as the mentor. The 36-year-old comes up with an experience of 46 Tests, 265 ODIs and 32 T20Is in which he scored 7419 runs and took 389 wickets in his successful international career across all formats.Razzaq said that he is excited to take next step in his career with Gladiators.”I’m really excited to join Quetta Gladiators as assistant/bowling coach because this will be the start of a new phase in my life and what better team to start with,” Razzaq stated.”There comes a time when you got to step into coaching and management and it’s the reality we must face. I want to thank Moin Khan and Nadeem Omar for showing trust in my abilities and I want to help the players as much as I can with my experience.”The all-rounder who won number of unlikely matches for the country hopes to transfer his knowledge to the next generation.”Pakistan has given so much to me and now it’s time to give it back. As an ex-player it’s important to solve problems of players which we faced. Having Moin as Head Coach will certainly ease up my work because he is a great thinker and understands players’ mentality,” he added.”I hope that Gladiators will do well in the second edition of PSL and I would be able to make little difference I could. In the end, I’ll say that I can’t wait to start working with the team.”Meanwhile, Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar said that Razzaq will certainly improve the team with his experience of being one of the best finishers of his generation.”Razzaq was a true match-winner of his generation and delivered on numerous occasions both with the bat and ball so he will definitely help the team improve all-round play,” Nadeem said.”We want to make Gladiators the best team and Razzaq is the latest edition in our quest of PSL title. I would also like to thank Ian Pont for his services and hope he does well in his life ahead.”
