Film industry delegation meets with Governor Sindh

Mr. Syed Noor appreciated noble gesture of federal government and patronage of Honorable Governor Sindh to hold Pakistan International Film Festival (PIFF). However it was pointed out that film industry was not truly represented in throughout festival. Even major players in the film industry like Evernew group, Eveready group, IMGC group, HKC group with contribution of over 80% of movies produced and released have not been taken on board.It shows discrimination particularly to Punjab where offices of recognized producers association established 63 years ago along with office of distributors association. Most of the senior technicians, artists, producers are based in Lahore with viable contribution in the growth of film industry after partition. Still most of the artists and technicians working in Sindh belongs to Punjab.Mr. Mohammad Ijaz Kamran also pointed out film policy announced in film convention but so far it is restricted upto announcement. In spite of most cordial and brotherly relations with China no higher dignitaries visits have included private sectors delegate for release of Pakistani movies and imports/exports of Chinese movies and co-production. All efforts to brief & appointment with State Minister of information is failed.Secondly it was also pointed out that incentives for international releases of Pakistani movies is required from government. Tax exemption for producers, distributors have not been announced and formally not incorporated.. Proposal has been submitted to the Minister.Governor Sindh graciously accepted reservations expressed by the delegate. He assured that federal government treats all the provinces alike and would have appreciated participation particularly notable routed industry i.e. from the Punjab.He promised with delegate to take up proposal including release and co-production of Pakistan – China with federal government. GE’s Advanced gas path upgrades generate $775 Million in total customer value annually

At the same time, AGP is helping our customers in growing markets like the Middle East, Africa, Asia, China and Eastern Europe, where they need more megawatts for industrial use and the grid.”Today, GE announced three milestones with its AGP technology: an agreement to upgrade gas turbines in Italy, as well as two installations at power plants in Iraq and Turkey.In Italy, GE will help Edison, part of Electricité de France (EDF Group) and Italy’s second largest integrated energy company, enhance its performance with AGP upgrades for a GE 9F.03 gas turbine at its Candela combined-cycle power station in Puglia, Italy. The upgrades are expected to increase the plant’s output by 5 percent and improve its global efficiency by almost 1 percentage point. In addition, GE’s predictive maintenance software and cybersecurity solution will improve Candela’s asset visibility, reliability and security while decreasing operating and maintenance costs at the plant.In Iraq, GE installed AGP on four of its gas turbines at the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity’s (MOE’s) Najibiya power plant, one of the eight sites where GE is installing a total of 36 AGP units as part of the Iraq Power Up Plan II. AGP will help each turbine run for up to an additional three months a year when the plant is powered by heavy fuel oil. As a result, the plant will increase the amount of electricity available for both domestic and commercial use, helping to meet the country’s growing energy needs. It will also help the MOE to lower annual operations and maintenance costs.In addition, the installation of AGP technology on 10 GE gas turbines was finalized at ENKA’s power plants. The result was a 6 percent output increase on the GE 9F gas turbines. The project was the first order for GE’s 9F AGP technology, which delivered upgraded performance and operational flexibility.GE’s AGP solution has delivered significant market-based benefits around the globe, including providing about 7 gigawatts of additional power capacity. AGP is generating nearly 19.4 million additional megawatt-hours (MWh) of power a year, which is enough to power approximately 2 million homes.With AGP upgrades, GE 9F gas turbines can achieve up to an 8 percent output increase and up to a 2 percent efficiency increase, whereas GE 6F gas turbines can realize up to a 4.2 percent output increase and up to a 1.2 percent efficiency increase. GE’s 9E gas turbine operations with AGP upgrades have achieved up to a 6.2 percent output increase and up to a 1.7 percent efficiency increase.

Karachi(Cliff News) Engro Foods Limited (EFL) is built from the fabric of Pakistan, they launched a campaign“Colors of Pakistan” revealing their 2ndCoffee table book called “Colors of Deosai”, this book launch was very well received by the media and the public. Itis a sustainability effort of Engro Foods to give back to the nation and contribute towards building a softer image ofPakistan. The Chief Guest at this occasion was Madam Maryam Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and it was chaired by Ambassador of Netherland, Mrs. Ardi Stoios Braken.Speaking at the occasion Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage said that with the grace of Almighty Allah, Pakistan had almost won the war against terrorism and now time was ripe to Win War of Perception through projection of national history, cultural heritage and language. She said that such books could play the role of a catalyst in winning this war. The minister said that the media had an important role in creating awareness among the youth in regards to preservation of environment, bio-diversity and the rapidly changing panorama. The new generation of the country could be attracted towards national culture and heritage through books and exhibitions showcasing Pakistan’s natural beauty, culture, heritage and bio-diversity. The minister said that the book showcasing the natural beauty and bio-diversity of the country should be displayed in all foreign embassies of the country and at all airports. Moreover she said it wasimperative to exhibit such beautiful books at colleges and universities to apprise the youth about the beautiful landscape of the country. She said that due to decline of local film industry in the past, Pakistan was unable to promote its bio-diversity through screentourism and this vacuum could be filled by promotion of national environmental beauty through books. The minister lauded the role of corporate sector in promoting the natural beauty of the country and the publication of the splendid book as part of its social responsibility. She said that Deosai had key role in eco-system of the country and its conservation was vital. She said that Arif Amin and Ghulam Rasool were renowned photographers who did tremendous job to highlight the beauty and bio-diversity of Deosai through the lens of camera. She said  that she was glad to be part of the launch of the book and the photo exhibition organized by Engro Foods Limited.Mrs. Ardi Stoios Braken, Ambassador Netherlands said “I was given an opportunity to preview the book and I am amazed at the beauty of Deosai plains in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan. I commend the photographers for capturing the exquisite and vulnerable ecosystem. I hope to visit Deosai during my stay in Pakistan. This is not the first Coffee table book that Engro Foods Limited has commissioned, their first book was Birds of Pakistan and this is their continued effort through Colors of Deosai to depict their commitment for highlighting the beauty of the unique ecosystem and also drawing attention to the need of its preservation. These exquisite ecosystems are under constant threats of degradation either due to climatic changes or other environmental pressures.
