SCO join hands with PTCL to connect China with Europe and Africa


Islamabad(Cliff News)Special Communication Organization (SCO) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) have signed an agreement to provide connectivity between China and major international destinations transiting through Pakistan.The signing ceremony was held at Pak-China Friendship Center during the inauguration of Pakistan-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) laid by SCO. Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan Justice (Retd.)Nasirul Mulk, Major General Amir Azeem Bajwa, Director General, SCO, HI (M), Dr. Daniel Ritz, President &CEO,PTCL, Yao Jing, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Deng Xiao Feng, CEO, China Telecom Global Limitedand other dignitaries attended the prestigious ceremony. SCOs Pakistan-China OFC is 820-kilometre-long stretching from Rawalpindi to Khunjerab establishing new cross border connectivity with China and is part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project led by Government of Pakistan and China.Col. Waseem Ahmad (Retd.), DirectorPak-China OFCSCO and Adil Rashid, Chief Business Services Officer, PTCLsigned SCO and PTCLagreement.As part of this agreement, SCO shall provide capacities on its OFC network between Pak-China Khunjrab border and Rawalpindi, whereas PTCL shall provide connectivity from Rawalpindi to major international destinations through Karachi and Gwadar using its long-haul network infrastructure and PTCL submarine cable network.On the occasion, Dr. Daniel Ritz, President & CEO, PTCL said, “PTCL has been connecting the nation since 1947 and we are glad to be part of this important initiative creating a positive regional impact. NBP Employees donate one day salary for construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam fund

Karachi(Cliff News)The employees of National Bank of Pakistan on the persuation of Saeed Ahmad, President, National Bank of Pakistan have decided voluntarily to contribute one day salary for the construction of ‘Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund 2018.’ This nationally important decision has been taken keeping in view the demerging acute shortage of water which poses an alarming threat for the country, which has been rightly observed by the honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan.In response to the Government of Pakistan, to mobilize funds through donations/contributions by both the domestic and international donors, an account with the name of “Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund-2018” has been established at all the branches of National Bank.Pakistan has always been a country blessed with rivers and rainfall, but in the view of the experts, there is going to be a massive water shortage as a large portion of the river water that passes through the country empties itself into the sea and the country loses out on power and irrigation opportunities.In his message to Saeed Ahmad said that that the management of NBP has expects field functionaries to welcome, receive and facilitate all persons desirous of making deposits and contributions in the said account. It is the ardent duty of each and every one of us to fulfill our responsibilities, whole heartedly and welcome the depositors courteously. Our helpdesk in all big branches, regions and Head Office are fully geared to extend fullest support, assistance and respond politely to any query and resolve every complaint.  Any staff member found to negligent/fall short in carrying out his/her responsibilities will be dealt with severely. Donation and contribution to the funds can be made in the form of cash, cheque, prize bonds and other cash equivalents.It is now imperative that the people of Pakistan and expatriates settled abroad should express their love for the country by deposit any amount into the Fund.
