Getz Pharma trains the doctors of Sindh government for implementation of COVID-19 testing protocols

Karachi(Cliff News)Pakistan’s leading pharmaceutical company, Getz Pharma has donated around 15,000 anti-body testing kits to the Sindh government and is training its doctors and paramedics to successfully implement COVID-19 testing protocols across the province.The company has already trained around 100 doctors and paramedics who will be master trainers for conducting the COVID-19 screening tests across the province. These trainings were conducted at the company’s head office in Karachi and at Sindh Emergency Operation Center (EOC) where Dr. Ahmed Ali, Technical focal person Sindh Polio was present. Getz Pharma has also sent its paramedics to train master trainers of the government in Karachi’s Southern District. The company will soon extend these trainings to other provinces.In these trainings, the company experts train the doctors on the complete COVID-19 screening protocols which include administration of anti-body testing kits, data gathering and interpretation, handling consent forms and other data tools.Earlier this week, Managing Director and CEO of Getz Pharma, Mr. Khalid Mahmood met Sindh Health Minister, Dr. AzraPechuho and assured his continued support during these unprecedented times. The company has donated around 1.9 million Hydroxychloroquine tablets, 15,000 testing kits and over 1500 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Sindh government. It is also supporting the research on the fast-track development of COVID-19 treatment in Pakistan.These efforts were applauded by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Mr. Murad Ali Shah in the meeting conducted with the top management of Getz Pharma at the CM house. He discussed further plans to help those affected by the pandemic and offered his support to fast-track all the processes for the treatment of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Sindh Government receives 15000 Covid 19 testing kids from Getz Pharma

Karachi(Cliff News)Pakistan’s leading pharmaceutical company, Getz Pharma donated 15000 testing kits as well as 1.9 million tablets of Hydroxychloroquine to the Sindh government to help in its fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Hydroxychloroquine, or HCQ 200 is an anti-malarial drug shown to be effective against the Coronavirus. Getz Pharma is among a handful of companies that manufactures the drug.The company also donated 1500 units of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for doctors and healthcare workers, which have been dispatched to more than 50 hospitals, isolation wards, quarantine centers and clinics in Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Larkana. The move was taken to ensure the safety of health care professionals in the front-line battling the deadly pandemic.Sindh Health Minister Dr AzraPechuho received the donation from Getz Pharma CEO Mr. Khalid Mahmood at her office in the Sindh Health Ministry. Mr. Mahmood assured Dr Pechuho of his company’s continued support to the Sindh Government and underlined the importance of Public-Private partnerships during the crisis. Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister, Senator Murtaza Wahab expressed his “heartfelt appreciation and gratitude” for the donation by Getz Pharma.In recent days the Sindh government has expressed its frustration at not being able to import testing kits as the federal government refused to allow cargo flights for this purpose.PPP senator Sherry Rehman has also warned about a serious crisis in the absence of testing kits and said that Sindh did not receive any functional testing kits despite the announcements made by the federal government.

Government of Pakistan responds to cast and crew stranded in Thailand

Islamabad (Cliff News)The government of Pakistan responds positively to Sara Loren, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and Shamoon Abbasi’s appeal requesting the country to ensure safe return of their entire film crew. Stranded in Thailand amidst the global lockdown due to CoVid-19, the actors had been continuously contacting the government via their social media platforms.As the novel coronavirus continues to spread across the globe, countries including Pakistan have opted for complete lockdowns as well as the closing of borders. On March 21st, the government announced all international flights to be suspended for two weeks. This was followed by reports of various citizens stranded around the world including countries like the United States, UK, Canada, Middle East, Thailand and Malaysia to name a few. After appeals from various citizen, on March 31st, the Oversees Workplace and National Safety Committee permitted Pakistan International Airline (PIA) to partially restore worldwide flight operations starting April 2nd. The airline was permitted to fly special flights in order to help stranded passengers from selected countries who were meant to travel to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.Sara Loren previously traveled to Thailand with the entire team of ‘Ishrat Made In China’ including the actors Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and Shamoon Abbasi before the first coronavirus case was confirmed in Pakistan. Unfortunately, with the sudden announcement of the country going in lock down and suspending international and national flights, the cast and crew found themselves stranded in Thailand. Two of the cast members, Sara Loren and Shamoon Ismail took to social media to appeal to the government of Pakistan requesting for the safe return of their fellow colleagues. Earlier today, the Pakistani government finally responded confirming that citizens stranded in Thailand including the cast and crew of Ishrat Made In China are to return to the country by 14th April 2020.
