Pakistan’s top gaming start-ups from Game Launcher pitch investors in Singapore

Singapore(Cliff News) Seven of Pakistan’s top game developers pitched their gaming products to renowned investors at Google’s Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore to raise capital for scaling up their games. These game developers were chosen through a Google-partnered ‘Game Launcher’ cohort of Telenor Pakistan’s famed digital start-up accelerator program ‘Telenor Velocity’.In presence, at the Google Launcher event, were the world’s top gaming industry talent, technology leaders, as well as renowned investors. A day prior to the pitch gathering, top three of Pakistan’s seven teams, OT Ventures, The Knights and Big Alpha, were announced and were given the awards by the Pakistani High Commissioner to Singapore, Ms. Rukhsana Afzal.“To strengthen and transform the local gaming community in the country, Telenor Pakistan has made serious commitments and a testament to these efforts is Game Launcher,” said Sardar Abubakr, Chief Digital & Strategy Officer Telenor Pakistan. “The potential in Pakistan’s remarkably booming gaming industry is immense and Game Launcher is an effort by Telenor Velocity and Google to provide a platform to ambitious game developers and guide them on how to scale their ventures. Launched in May 2019, Velocity’s gaming cohort, Game Launcher, aimed to convince the next gaming start-up generation to scale their service offerings by leveraging Telenor Pakistan’s platform and insights. Targeting Pakistan’s underdog game developers to bring the next multi-million-dollar games out of Pakistan, Game Launcher brought in industry gurus to educate and up-skill promising gaming start-ups on smart game development and monetization.

Standard Chartered pioneers trade A1 engine in partnership with IBM

Singapore(Cliff News) Standard Chartered has officially launched the Trade AI Engine, a joint solution developed in partnership with IBM to enhance the client experience in trade document processing through increased operational efficiency and strengthened operational control. The industry-leading solution is currently live in key markets across Asia, Africa and the Middle East[1], with more markets across the Bank’s footprint to follow[2].Traditional documentary trade requires millions of data elements in paper-based, unstructured documents – often issued by various companies – to be reviewed through a largely manual process. With the implementation of the Trade AI Engine powered by IBM, this time-consuming and high-risk process is now significantly automated:

  • Conversion of non-digital shipping documents into machine-readable format enabled by Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

  • Identification and classification of document types from an initial pre-defined database

  • Continuous Machine learning (ML) based on user re-classification / re-defining of data elements to further improve accuracy

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) capabilities to read and capture context from data in the documents

 The innovative solution allows the Bank to handle high volumes of diverse back office tasks with greater efficiency and accuracy, thus offering a more seamless trade processing experience for clients.“As a market leader and major intermediary between buyers and sellers in the centre of global trade, we process more than 36 million pages of trade documents annually, with over 200 million data elements for name capture and processing,” said Lisa Robins, Global Head, Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered. “The Trade AI Engine significantly reduces the amount of time and effort in this review process while raising the bar on our controls environment, further enhancing our ability to play the connector role for our clients by facilitating transactions at pace with the growth of their businesses.”“Trade document processing traditionally relies on a high degree of manual effort to ensure transaction compliance. IBM worked with Standard Chartered Bank to develop a solution that would automate the retrieval of key information from text within scanned documents. Lights and Love in relations with celebrations of Divali

As every autumn Hindu community celebrates divali all over the world, this year 7th of November they are going to enjoy this family-oriented festival. This festival is observed with happiness and joy, lots of fireworks and firecrackers going off. Divali is the five-day celebration where third day is considered as main divali on which celebrations are at their peak. Two days before the main divali are assumed as the preparation of third day. On first day Hindus all over the world clean their homes, offices and shops, purchase jewellery, firecrackers and other items, decorate homes and streets and lighten the lamps for all five days. On the second day people purchase and prepare foods especially sweets for the main divali day. After divali, fourth day is for husband and wife and fifth day for sisters and brothers.

The height of the festival is the third day which is 7th Nov. this year. Holiday on this occasion is announced by many governments in the world. Hindu community in Pakistan also enjoy holiday. Unlike all festival days Hindus don’t fast on divali rather they share sweets with friends and family. Everyone wears new clothes and perform Lakshmi puja then celebrate fireworks and share sweets.

This festival has some political and economic benefits for Hindu community. Major shopping occurs during divaliperiod. Cultural exchange during divaligives political benefits to India. But air pollution is the major problem created by variety of fireworks. Fireworks play key role in increasing number of burn injuries during divali.

Divali is known as the festival of lights, illumination and happiness. But most of us don’t know the story behind this occasion. Divali is the day when King Rama returns with his wife Sita and younger brother Lakshmana at Ayodhyaafter fourteen years in exile. Rama is portrayed as the seventh avatar of god Vishnu and his wife is portrayed as the avatar of goddess Lakshmi. Ayodhya is the birthplace of Rama. Rama was forcefully sent to exile by his father Dasharatha and step mother and Dasharatha’s favorite queen kaikeyi. Lakshmana decided to go with Rama into exile. Kaikeyi wanted to make their sonBaharatha the crown Prince of Ayodhya. Rama’s army defeated Ravana who kidnapped his wife Sita. After this victory rama, Sita and Lakshmana returned to Ayodhya to establish their ideal state. This occasion in the history revealed as divali. Another belief is that such festival had celebrated even before rama and rama had chosen this day for his return to ayodhya because the lights and illumination helped them to come back their destination easily.
