PM Imran Khan presents PSX top companies award to Arif Habib Limited

APPCON motivating young minds to become digital leaders

Karachi(Cliff News)Microfinance Bank’s APPCON 2019 is a digital application development initiative for aspiring individuals in the country. The event invited submissions from leading universities across the country. 3 teams were shortlisted from FAST, IBA and NUST with the winners given cash prizes and an opportunity to qualify for the final round of the Management Trainee/Internship Program 2020.The digital infrastructure of Pakistan is transforming at a rapid pace with the applications market showing the greatest promise. APPCON was organized to promote the young talent in the country and provide them the opportunities that they can’t get from other sources. The competitors were given three categories to submit application proposals on namely Chat, Friend Finders and Task Manager Applications. The competition was judged by senior representatives from Telenor Microfinance Bank. 1st prize was won by the team from FAST which came with prize money of PKR 175,000. The 2nd prize of PKR 125,000 went to ‘Project Sam’ from IBA and the 3rd prize of PKR 75,000 was won by Team Kazam from NUST. The winners were shortlisted from a pool of 45 registrations that came from institutes like LUMS, GIK, IBA and NUST etc.Sharing her thoughts on the APPCON, Pouruchisty Sidhwa, Chief Human Resources Officer, Telenor Microfinance Bank said: “Pakistan is one of the countries in the world that is considered a hub for talented individuals who have the ability to bring revolutionary changes in their relevant fields. Mesmerizing live musical performances were given by Reath Band, Nimra and Ali Raza on day 1,while day 2 performances featured Ali Asad, Sherry Raza and Ali Raza.The visitors were also treated to traditional dances and fireworks. Karachi(Cliff News)The Dodgeball future is looking bright in Pakistan as young and talented players lot are taking interest in this game.Pakistani players in all levels club, regional,national and international are grooming day by day.The credit goes to organizer’s who are working hard for the promotion of game and find the young talent as well.17 years old Muhammad Saad Siddqui of St.Patrick’s College is a rising talent of OISSA Dodgeball Club is representing Karachi and Sindh Dodgeball Association.He also played for Happy Home School Society Campus.The young boy is keep trying to improve his abilities and aiming to represent him country at International level.He regularly participate in different partice and training sessions to make himself fit and sharping his gaming.So far he participated in Interschool and Karachi Dodgeball Championship as a Captain of his team.He represented East Team at DMC East Mini Olympic Games and attend Dodgeball National Foundation Coaching Course.He try to fulfill all the expectation and perform for his country in future.

Legal Aid Society and Law Department Sindh officially launched Legal Advisory Call Center

Karachi(Cliff News)The Law Department, Government of Sindh and Legal Aid Society (LAS) officially launched their Sindh Legal Advisory Call Centre (SLACC) Annual Report “De-constructing Conjugal Rights in Pakistan Law.”The SLACC is a unique public-private partnership between the Law Department, Government of Sindh and LAS. The SLACCis a toll free call-in number (0800-70806)for the general public to obtain free legal advice and guidance.Its objective is to create greater legal awareness and increased access to justice particularly for underprivileged and marginalized segments of society.On this occasion,the Annual Report authors Maliha Zia and Naima Qamarpresented SLACC’s research on conjugal rights and gender roles within marriage through a legal and feminist Islamic framework. The report included analysis of 233 cases proceeded before Superior Courts and 789 calls received by SLACC on restitution of conjugal rights (RCR). The report highlighted that RCR provisions is gender neutral fulfilling requirement for formal equality but in reality it is being used primarily against women, thus not providing substantive equality. Women, unfortunately, cannot and are unable to successfully use this provision due to social constraints and legal bias.Mr. Shariq Ahmed Secretary, Law Department, Government of Sindh provided the audience with salient feature of the 1-year performance of the SLACC. Since 1st July 2018 till 10th December 2019 SLACC has registered 42,669 queries from more than 45O cities, towns and villages across Pakistan.Mr. Muhammad Zubair Habib, CPLC Chief discussed the importance of access to justice and legal needs. He emphasized that efficient legal aid system can significantly contribute in improving access of vulnerable sections to justice and reduce legal exclusion.Justice ArifKhilji, Chief Legal Advisor of SLACC shared successes and the human impact of SLACC’s provision of free legal advice to those most vulnerable in society. He emphasized the importance of the service, as the average citizen is not aware of his/her legal rights.Barrister MurtazaWahab, Advisor Law, Government of Sindh gave the keynote address, pointing to SLACC as a uniquely effective model of a public-private partnership that provides an invaluable service to civil society in upholding the rule of law.Ms. Mehnaz Rehman, Resident Director,Aurat Foundation appreciated LAS for discussing the important legal issue of conjugal rights on this platform. Justice Nasir AslamZahid, Chairperson,LAS, concluded the event by appreciating the Sindh Government’s efforts to promote the rule of law and for facilitating the unique public-private partnership with LAS.

Indonesian Women Association and CG visited Al Umeed Rehabilitation

This visit is also to commemorate of the 20th anniversary of the Indonesian Women Association.The purpose of Indonesian Women Association to visit Al Umeed is to recognize a non- profit charitable organization that offers specialized interdisciplinary Treatment, Rehabilitation, Special & Inclusive Education services for children and young adults suffering from Cerebral Palsy. The Indonesian Consulate General has sharing the same feelings towards what the children felt made them come to Al-Umeed to share happiness.During the visit Mrs. Ani Totok Prianamto, wife of Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi with other members of the Women Association admired Munizeh Ali Habib, President of AURA and the staff of AURA for their noble work.Mrs. Ani Totok Prianamto on her remarks acknowledged their hard work, passion and appreciated them for their enormous effort which they put in to run this Centre.The members of Women Association visited different sections of AURA such as therapy room, art section, computer section, exercise room, swimming pool and vocational room where children prepare many things with their abilities like paintings, embroidery on cloths, jute bags, hair bands etc., which AURA exhibit on different occasion.The visit reflects social and humanitarian concern of the Indonesian Women Association and is part of their commitment to spread the message of love, care, and benevolence to the disabled community in Pakistan, which in turn will strengthen cordial relations between two brotherly countries.
